In that event, PPAk FEB UGM invited Prof. Ainun Naim, the Secretary General of the Ministry of Education and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia as the speaker. The public lecture was attended by 99 people and conducted online.
The public lecture was opened by the Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Business, Gadjah Mada University. He congratulated the new PPAk FEB UGM students and advised them to study hard to prepare for the future. He also emphasized the importance of students upholding integrity.
In his speech, Prof. Ainun Naim brought up the topic : Government Policy Regarding Learning Strategies in the Pandemic Era. Currently, the world is being hit by a Covid -19 pandemic, which we don’t know when it will end. From elementary school to college, learning activities are carried out online.
Online learning has caused many problems for students. Some of the problems that arise are learning achievement gaps, students become stressed due to the lack of interaction with teachers and other friends, parents’ perceptions and other obstacles.
A tough task awaits the government to solve the above problems. The government has adjusted policies to strengthen the role of local governments / regional offices. This can be realized in the form of granting full authority to local governments in determining face-to-face learning permits. The granting of permits can be done simultaneously or gradually per district / village area. However, granting permission to conduct face-to-face learning must strictly implement health protocols.
The government also implements educational policies during the emergency period of COVID as follows : the elimination of national exams, national exams are not graduation requirements, students are not burdened with demands to complete the curriculum, assignments and activities are adjusted to students’ interests and conditions etc.
More importantly, to complement learning at home (online learning), the Government facilitates students with Learning from Home with TVRI. In addition, the Government also facilitates learning accounts that can be used by students, teacher and education personnel to access learning services / applications electronically.
The public lecture was closed by question and answer and photograph session
