It has been a tradition for Accountant Profession Education, Faculty of Economics and Business Universitas Gadjah Mada to hold a public lecture to welcome the new students.
The public lecture was held on February 10, 2020 at 8th floor, Learning Center Building, attended by 97 PPAk and undergraduate students of FEB UGM who enthusiastically listened to the presentation of Mr. Riadi Sugihtani, Mr. Tagor Sidik Sigiro (from KAP Grant Thornton) and Mr. Tarkosunaryo from the Indonesian Institute of Public Accountants.
The public lecture was entitled “Roles and Responsibilities of Public Accountants in the Industrial Revolution Era 4.0. As we know that, we are in the Internet of Things era. Rapid technological change makes the role of human in processing an activity becomes minimal. This is because the role of machine is getting bigger. Likewise with an auditor, they will also experience the technological advancement. However, both Mr Tarkosunaryo and Mr Tagor Sidik Sigiro said that the accounting profession still has a good future prospect and will always play very important role because professional judgment cannot be replaced by machines.
Also, on that occasion, Faculty of Economics Universitas Gadjah Mada and Grant Thornton Indonesia ( Sidik, Sigiro Handayani) Public Accounting Firm, signed a Memorandum of Understanding in a field of education, internship and staff recruitment.
Dean of FEB UGM warmly welcomed this collaboration and this memorandum of understanding proved that Grant Thornton Indonesia Public Accounting Firm and FEB UGM are comitted to producing a competent and qualified public account.
